theRearGuard.org

All show and no go. Well...not really much show, but lots of publicity for nothing. How 'bout that?
Came across a few stories from the Where Are They Now files about one of Arkansas's least favorite (or known or missed) sons. Rod Martin has long fascinated bloggers, like a car wreck, a sinking ship, or a burning building. Somehow, he keeps fooling people into thinking he's some sort of person they should care about and every once in a while people who knew him have to set the record straight.
He's still advertising his now defunct, nearly 10 year old, theVanguard.org as the conservative answer to MoveOn.org. As a blog which has actually just started we would never make such a silly claim, whereas Rod's pitiful site has been around since the late nineties and still has virtually no readership and lately no content, either. Humorously, Rod claims to have launched his unexciting old venture recently, yet it remains virtually unchanged from when I first saw it nearly a decade ago, when the internet was still in its toddler stages.
Rod has recently been featured, more or less, at MotherJones.com, a much more successful left-wing website. There he spins his yarn about his "new" venture to challenge MoveOn.org. I must say his tactics are certainly unique. I'll be interested to see how the no content technique pans out. It certainly fits his modus operandi from back when I had the misfortune to know him. You'll especially like the comments in the MotherJones story by yours truly under More Like RearGuard.org and Thomas, another of my fellow travelers, I assume.
This is a piece of Rod's pitiful propaganda, complete with his never materializing predictions of greatness.
