Emails, Conference Calls, and Resignations?
Looks like we're getting some interest in this topic, so I thought I'd move it up the queue. No word yet on the results of a rumored conference call about Karen Ray's actions.Following up on the email debacle between RPA ED Karen Ray and the yet unnamed legislator, I have been told by some well-informed sources that there have been calls for Ray to step down. I haven't received confirmation that the personnel committee held, or will hold, a conference call to discuss the matter, but my sources have intimated as much. When I get confirmation I'll pass it along.
I happened to tune in to the Dave Elswick Show on KARN in central Arkansas. He didn't intimate anything. He called for her resignation. He accurately described her statements as being out of the mainstream and insulting to average Americans, who want to see a something done to stem the tide of illegal aliens.
Rep. Johnny Key, R-Mountain Home, House Minority Leader, went on Elswick's show to discuss the situation. Key gave a mealy-mouthed defense of Karen and the party line that we should try to make businesses happy and not pursue "feel good policies" that alienate aliens. Elswick wasn't impressed.
He was impressed with David Sanders, though, who was pretty blunt in his assessment that Ray was completely out of line. Sanders appeared on the the show after Key and he's right. Her job is not to shape policy. It's to help elect Republicans, whose job it is to shape policy. It is yet to be seen if she's up to that job. If things don't settle down, we may not find out.

You really need to lay off. This is embarrassing the party. The 1st amdnendment applies to Karen Ray as well.
Whatever. This isn't about the 1st Amendment. Nobody's saying she doesn't have a constitutional right. They're saying that it isn't her job to tell legislators what to do. Pathetic.
I will tell you whats pathetic. You racists who are embarrassing the rest of the party because you can't shut your mouths and let hard working people live in America becuase they aren't good clean white folks.
The 1st Amendment is at issue here and you ought to be glad that Karen doesn't want to sue your sorry a%* for trying to control her rights to speak.
And theres a reason why she came to Arkansas because there isn't anyone in Arkansas who could handle her job. That is especially true of you haters who have to attack her because you couldn't get her job.
I love it when you rethuglicans eat your own. Some of you can't help hating the brown man while your few smart ones try to hide it from the thinking world.
Good thing we have these smart people from Washington here to tell us what to think. Karen really is a nice young lady, but this isn't a freedom of speech issue. It isn't her job to make policy and she admitted as much by aplologizing for her comments. It is interesting that she didn't retract them though. If she can't get past this, I think she probably ought to resign. I heard the Elzwick show too and he made a lot of sense. We don't need an ED who is undermining us.
Karen needs to resign. It's not just that she's overstepping her bounds. She is WAY outside the mainstream of the average Republican committee member and the average Arkansan who is fed up with politicians like MIke Beebe playing politics one of the most important issues of our time because they don't want to rock the boat. Unfortunately, Karen wanted to do that, too.
She'll be alright. I'm sure Clint will find her a job. Now if we can just keep him from helping us replace her if she goes.
2 Possible Chairman:
Charles Mazander
Michael Lamaroux
2 Possible Executive Directors:
Chris Stewart
Stuart Jones
3 out of 4 ain't bad. The party couldn't afford Chris Stewart and R. Stuart is a goof who would use the position for his own advancement. He's been drifting from one thing to the next with that Cooper dork hanging on for the ride for years now.
Mazander and Lamoureaux would be good choices for chairman if the current occupant doesn't stop towing the White House line on immigration. Otherwise, he's doing a fine job.
