Mike Huckabee Admits He's Bad on Illegal Immigration Issue
I've been telling you about this for a long time. I've pointed out that Huckabee has decided that he just can't keep up with all the lies he's been telling about his record so he decided to brag about it. That's right, folks. Mike Huckabee has been bragging about being for illegal immigration. He's now admitting that he's going to lose votes because he's proud that he ran Arkansas as a Sanctuary State. He's more interested in spending our money than he is in winning the Republican nomination. I hope that works out for him. I'd love to see him lose it because he is so blatantly pro-illegal alien. Let's be clear about this, though. Mike Huckabee has already proven that he's not above lying to cover up his record. He's only embracing this because he knows he can't get away with lying about it.
Here's the link.

Huckabee, who again somehow escaped discussion of his record of ethical imbroglios and of disastrous and direct involvement with the release of a vicious criminal, has a tremendous ability to sound reasonable, sincere, and thoughtful while actually putting forth very little of substance. (He also was hurt by a clearly unpopular answer at the start about free college tuition to children of illegal aliens, and also by a Fred Thompson campaign video of Huckabee as governor pleading for tax hikes.)

I don't know why those who criticize Huckabee on immigration will not hit him on the fact that he backed driver's licenses for illegals.
A few corrections:
1) Huckabee did NOT have direct involvement with the release of Wayne Drumond (the "vicious criminal"). As a governor, he actually had no authority to grant the man parole.
2) Huckabee is for securing our borders, not welcoming illegal immigrants. He believes they need to come in LEGALLY.
3) Huckabee's state scholarship proposal for the children of illegal immigrants never even passed, but it was meant as an encouragement to seek citizenship for the kids of illegal immigrants who came over here, dragging their children along. The children did not choose to be here. In order to even qualify for the scholarship, the applicant had to have had outstanding grades in an Arkansas throughout his entire education, had to be drug/alcohol free, had to stay out of trouble, and had to be applying for citizenship at the time of application for the scholarship. Pretty tall order, I'd say. I wouldn't call that a handout.
4) Huckabee's "plea" for tax hikes in front of the Arkansas legislature was not without context. Arkansas had some of the crappiest roads in the nation, and they needed to be fixed. The only way they could be fixed was through a tax hike. The people of Arkansas ended up passing a gas tax--80% approved. Arkansas went from the crappiest roads to some of the best roads. My uncle lives in Arkansas and LOVES what Huckabee has done there.

"1) Huckabee did NOT have direct involvement with the release of Wayne Drumond (the "vicious criminal"). As a governor, he actually had no authority to grant the man parole."
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Mike Huckabee personally met with the parole board in an illegal closed door meeting to pressure them to parole DuMond, which is completely without precedent. There has never, I repeat, never, in the history of Arkansas, been a governor who has held a closed door meeting with the parole board to pressure them on behalf of a single prisoner. Huckabee made numerous public statements that he supported DuMond's release. All of this has been meticulously and thoroughly documented. There are several posts about this on this blog and many, many more on the Arkansas Times website.
"2) Huckabee is for securing our borders, not welcoming illegal immigrants. He believes they need to come in LEGALLY."
Thank you, mr. i'm not from Arkansas and I don't know what I'm talking about, for contributing your completely baseless opinion. Please take some time, again, to read this blog. Mike Huckabee operated Arkansas as a Sanctuary State. He villified those of us who wanted to stop the practice of giving taxpayer money to illegal aliens. He called us racists and impugned our Christianity. He advocated giving even more benefits to them, in addition to those that were already in place. He opposed the implementation of the 287(g) program, which helps ICE enforcement.
"3) Huckabee's state scholarship proposal for the children of illegal immigrants never even passed, but it was meant as an encouragement to seek citizenship for the kids of illegal immigrants who came over here, dragging their children along. Call it what you want, but, again, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. You're just regurgitating Mike Huckabee's talking points, which are outright lies. The record is clear. The bill, which this blog has thoroughly documented, was HB1525 by Rep. Joyce Elliot, from the 2005legislative session. It said nothing about any requirements for seeking American citizenship. It said nothing about being alcohol and drug free. The final version of the bill, which Huckabee adamantly supported actually did nothing about scholarships. It just attempted to violate federal law by granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens, without granting them to out-of-state U.S. citizens.
And, oh those poor children. They were forced by their parents to come here... That's the dumbest thing I think you've said. Their parents brought them here to live off the fat of our land. That's part and parcel to Huckabee's effective policy to make Arkansas a Sanctuary State.
"4) Huckabee's "plea" for tax hikes in front of the Arkansas legislature was not without context."
The "plea" to which you refer occured in 2003. The tax you list below occured in 1999. You are off by 4 years. It did, however, have a context. Mike Huckabee was not interested in cutting spending. Instead, he sought to raise taxes, again, choosing to continue wasteful spending over any possible concern for the pocketbooks of the Arkansas taxpayer. I know. I've been paying for Mike Huckabee's tax increases since. Mike Huckabee raised half a billion dollars in taxes more than he cut. Sorry, charlie. You don't know what you're talking about.
"The people of Arkansas ended up passing a gas tax--80% approved."
You don't know what you're talking about. Learn to read. This is a lie which your hero Mike Huckabee has told a hundred times. There is ample documentation of this on ArkJournal. We didn't vote for a tax increase. The measure on the ballot addressed whether to pass a bond issue to deal with the tax to which you are referring, which Huckabee had already passed.
You really don't have a clue.
"Arkansas went from the crappiest roads to some of the best roads."
Having just driven several hundred miles on Arkansas interstates, I will tell you that they are nowhere near the best roads. They aren't bad, now. But the problem was that Huckabee chose to give wasteful government spending a pass as he often did. Instead, he chose to raise a tax to pay for it so that government bureaucrats wouldn't suffer. He preferred that we, the taxpayers do that.
"My uncle lives in Arkansas and LOVES what Huckabee has done there."
I'm glad your uncle lives in Arkansas. Good for you and good for him. You can proudly count him in the vast minority of Arkansans who care for Mike Huckabee.
Feel free to read some facts next time before you demonstrate your ignorance. Things are only going to get worse for Huckabee. His record is about to come crashing down on his head. He is a documented liar. This blog has caught him in several.
If you are an honest person, you will study the information in this blog and admit that you were wrong on everything you said in defense of Mike Huckabee.
