Huckabee Lying, Again
Feel free to disprove the lies, Mike.
Oh, and some good news, Huckabee has now fallen out of first place in Iowa and is slipping all over the country.

Just a little reminder for all my out of state readers that Mike Huckabee only polled 8% in a recent poll in Arkansas.Arkansas Journal makes another Fred Thompson ad. I'm glad I could help.
A lot of my friends keep making a big deal about Fred Thompson not having an all-consuming desire to be president.
Here's one more example of how ill-informed Mike Huckabee is on matters of foreign policy and how quick he is to shoot off his lip. Huckabee isn't aware that martial law isn't in effect in Pakistan. This might not be such a big deal except he likes shoot from the lip and from the hip when it comes to matters of foreign policy. This is from the guy who called President Bush's foreign policy "arrogant" and insinuated that the president didn't know what he was doing.
Mike Huckabee's now famous pheasant hunt in Iowa was marked by a little noticed and reported incident in which he fired his shotgun over the heads of reporters.30 years ago, Fred Thompson took on a corrupt governor who was selling commutations.
This is very interesting in the context of Mike Huckabee's commutation of Eugene Fields, after Fields' wife made over $20,000 in contributions. Here's the link to my earlier story about that.
If credible evidence arises against Musharraf, the already precarious situation in Pakistan will get much, much worse.
As usual, Thomas Sowell offers sage commentary about the field of presidential candidates.1. If the 2008 Republican presidential caucus were held today between Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Fred Thompson, for whom would you vote? (Republicans Only; Names Rotated)
Mike Huckabee 31%
Mitt Romney 25%
Fred Thompson 16%

Huckabee's opponents are pointing out that he is soft on crime, not just murderers and rapists, but also meth dealers. And they have a point. Huckabee supported and signed into law legislation that lessens the prison sentence of meth dealers, who are a scourge on our society.
Let's also remember that Christmas isn't about presents or Santa Claus. It's about Jesus' birth. The Son of God became a man, died for our sins and rose from the dead so that we could have eternal life. Hillary's "holiday" commercial turns my stomach. It's so blatant. She is so imperious to flaunt that she will "give" us "universal health care", "alternative energy", "middle class tax breaks", and "universal pre-k", as if she (Big Government) gives us anything that she doesn't first have to take away from us.
This is typical liberalism. Big Government "gives" us everything, right after it takes it away from us.
As for "middle class tax breaks", many of you who consider yourselves to be "middle class" will be disappointed to find that she and democrats consider you to be "the rich", meaning that you're not going to get Hillary's present of a "tax break", but a lump of coal in the form of a tax hike. That's where she gets the money, she thinks, for socialized health care and all these other entitlements she's so generous with. I could "give" my family a tropical island if I "gave" the way Hillary does. Take it away from someone who earned it.
Merry Christmas, indeed. Oh, I'm sorry, "happy holidays".
Speaking of Christmas and "holiday" commercials, Mark Steyn has an interesting piece for National Review about the various campaigns and their attempts to wish us various forms of seasons salutations. Here's the link.
The family of Marine Corporal Dustin Lee, who gave his life serving our country in Iraq, has adopted his bomb-sniffing Devil Dog, named Lex.
Jonathan Martin of Politico.com has a story about Mike Huckabee's pitiful attempt to pretend that he likes Rush Limbaugh.
John Brummett's latest column hits it right on the head. Huckabee plays to his audience. That's evident in his recent Christmas ad.
"Favorable opinions of Huckabee have dropped from 81% to 67% over the past week and the Huckabee tide has receded a bit."
Huck can do all the feel good ads he wants this Christmas, but he can't deny the fact that he helped Wayne DuMond get out of prison. This girl would be home with her family, where she belongs, if it weren't for Huck being more interested in how 1,033 criminals feel than their victims.
Merry Christmas, indeed.
It hit me the other day that it's been a long, long time since I've seen a negative story from the Arkansas Times about the War in Iraq. I know they still want us to lose, but I guess they're coming to grips with the reality that we're winning and they don't want to draw too much attention to that or their complicity in proclaiming our defeat, trying to make it come about.
More and more, Rush Limbaugh is telling his huge audience know about the real Mike Huckabee. This is a good sign.
Why is Robbie Wills Smiling? It's because David Dunn has dropped out of the Speaker's race, as several sources have confirmed this afternoon.
Travelling in Iowa to spread the word about Mike Huckabee, three former, and one current, Arkansas legislators appeared on Iowa's biggest radio show, WHO's Jan Mickelson Show.
It looks like it's time to dust off the old jokes I used to tell about Bill Clinton's foreign policy experience when he was running for president. Here's my favorite: the extent of Mike Huckabee's foreign policy experience consists of eating contests with John Mark at the International House of Pancakes...
A new panel formed by the state has convened to figure out how to insure uninsured people in Arkansas.
I'd almost forgotten that the state had established a commission to "study" the impact of "global warming".
Mike Huckabee proudly announced at one of the debates that his opinion was more valuable than others because he was the only Republican candidate with a theology degree. Well... It turns out that isn't so.
Fred is rocking and rolling, especially since dominating this week's debate. John Brummett has an excellent column about it.
"Huckabee, like Reagan, wouldn't be an 'easy kill'"
I've been seeing all kinds of stories playing up Hillary's apparent slide.
David Sanders has a great column about how beatable Huckabee is. His case study is the 2002 gubernatorial campaign against Jimmie Lou Fisher. Hillary is a foe far beyond Fisher's stature, though. She will mow Huckabee to the ground, especially with Bill beating the old stumps in Arkansas.
If you're interested in an excellent read about how to solve the health care problem, I suggest Patient Power, by the Cato Institute.
The Piggies have a new coach as of last night. Bobby Petrino, who is coming off an NFL season not unlike that of Lou Holtz before he took the Hogs to a victory of the Sooners in the Orange Bowl.
Drudge has this story today, but I've been saying it for a long time. Democrats want Mike Huckabee to be our candidate. They see him as their easiest target. So I'm not surprised that the democrats see all of Huckabee's flaws and see an easy target.
For those Republicans around the country who are reading this. Consider these questions: why is the media pushing Huckabee? Why are the democrats giving him a free pass? Why is he running from his record? Why is he so unpopular in Arkansas?
Robbie Wills is still looking strong.
I've been saying this for a while, so it's gratifying to see such a prestigious, conservative institution as National Review shining the light of truth on Mike Huckabee's abysmal and disturbing record. Mike Huckabee ran Arkansas as his personal do-good slushfund. As Mitt Romney said in the last debate, "it's not your money." Unfortunately, Mike Huckabee thinks it is. He loved to tell us what to do and spend our money for us.
Congratulations, to Arkansas's own David J. Sanders for hitting the big time of conservative commentary---National Review. David Sanders is one of my favorite reads as is National Review, so this is an exciting day.
A lady at a church in Colorado Springs, CO with a concealed weapon shot and killed a crazed gunman who shot 8 people, killing 2 sisters, on Sunday.
A reader sent me this link to a FreeRepublic.com post about this.
We're still proud of you.
Where does Huck draw the line on his compassion?
Fred is moving his campaign to Iowa. He's been showing a lot of energy, lately. He's also looking and sounding very presidential.
Mike Beebe is still committed universal day care, ahem "preschool."
On this day, 66 years ago, Pearl Harbor was mercilessly and treacherously attacked by the imperial Japanese navy. They woke up a sleeping giant and many of them didn't live to regret it. 6 years and a few months ago, al Qaeda made the same grave mistake.
Sorry about the delay. I had this scheduled to post at 8 a.m. I've been experiencing publishing problems.
We all know who Fred's talking about. It's such a relief to here some more common sense from Fred Thompson.
BOSTON — A Boston firefighter is mending from what could have been deadly stab wounds he suffered early yesterday morning when he was allegedly jumped in East Boston while off duty by a group of Hispanic males who told him they "don't want any gringo here."Stephanopoulos: Why shouldn't they get the federal aid as well as the
state aid?
Huckabee: Well, it's the difference between (being) punished and being
rewarded. His logic capsized. Apparently for Huckabee, withholding college scholarships or
in-state tuition from the children of illegal immigrants is tantamount to the
state "punishing" students for the sins of their parents, but withholding Pell
grants or financial aid from the children of illegal immigrants is tantamount to
the federal government simply not "rewarding" these same students for the sins
of their parents?
That's a brief excerpt from David Sanders' devastating column published today courtesy of the Arkansas News Bureau. Sanders analysis is of the "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" video I excerpted earlier in the week, which I'm reposting here today, of Huckabee doing verbal backflips and cartwheels trying desperately to salvage a disastrous dilemma that Stephanopoulos posed for him.
HB1525, which Sanders and Stephanopoulos referenced, was sponsored by a very liberal, former State Representative named Joyce Elliott. Huckabee supported the bill from start to finish.
The final version was exclusively a bill to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens, which is completely at odds with the claims that Huckabee has been making, lately, and also happens to be against federal law. It said nothing about someone seeking citizenship, which Huckabee has been lying about.
It says nothing about attending Arkansas schools someone's entire career, as Huckabee has been lying about (It actually only required attending 3 years of schooling in Arkansas, which is also at variance with his claim that the student might start at age 13.).
It said nothing about being drug and alcohol free, as Huckabee has been lying about.
And it said nothing about having good grades or being the top of their class, as Huckabee has been lying about.
The only two things that have any basis in truth are his claims about being drug and alcohol free and having good grades, but those are totally unrelated to this legislation. Those are requirements of the Arkansas Challenge Scholarship. Huckabee has been intentionally lying about this, again assuming that we're all stupid, as if we wouldn't check. It's not like it was that difficult to check. It's all on the Arkansas Legislature's website and I had already posted a thoroughly documented story about it.
But Mike Huckabee just can't help himself. His record is that of a liberal, RINO governor who ran Arkansas as an effective Sanctuary State. He not only thought and said those of us who opposed giving taxpayer funded benefits to illegal aliens were racists and un-Christian, he pushed for programs like this which would have made Arkansas more of an attractive safe-haven for illegal aliens. He opposed implementation of 287(g), which would have helped ICE enforcement and supported giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens, because he thought it was racist to verify someone's immigration status, a sentiment which in practice renders the concepts of borders, sovereignty, and the rule of law inoperable.
How do you enforce immigration laws if you can't ask people who they are because it's obviously racist (to Huckabee) because they are hispanic?
I've written about this extensively, but Huckabee is more and more getting tripped up in his own smooth-talking web of lies and liberalism. He can't run from his record forever. He's said that he's glad to get tough questions and be "attacked" because it's a sign that he's succeeding. It may be true that it's a sign that he's experiencing success, but I promise you he isn't happy about it. He's paying the piper for his years of arrogant, liberal condescension.
Pointing out what an excruciating stretch Huckabee made attempting to distinguish between a reward and a punishment in regard to federal vs. state college assistance is a masterstroke. I applaud David Sanders for making that distinction. Huckabee clearly had no answer prepared and his attempt was both feeble and telling. Feeble in that it illustrated how precarious his position is and telling in the way it offered a glimpse into the psyche of someone who isn't a real conservative, but a person who merely ascribes that word to all of his actions for its rhetorical value regardless how liberal his actions and positions really are.
Here's the link to David Sanders' superb new column.
First they wanted us to believe that it was patriotic to root for America to lose the War. Now they're helping defend the West Memphis 3, who are brutal murderers. That is actually a logical step for them.
As I wrote, yesterday, Huckabee's adoption of the Fair Tax proposal is quite appropriate considering he was never serious about cutting taxes as governor. So, why not choose the most impossible tax plan of all?
CBS has picked up the story of Wayne DuMond, the convicted rapist who became a cause celeb of Mike Huckabee. The Huckster fought hard to see that DuMond walk free and succeeded. Not long after his release he sexually assaulted murdered a woman in Missouri, thanks to Huckabee going above and beyond to help free him.
Last week CNN's Lou Dobbs filmed his show from Little Rock. Not surprisingly and thankfully, he had some pretty harsh words to say about the Arkansas Friendship Coalition. State Representatives Jon Woods and Rick Green appeared with Dobbs to discuss our ongoing problem with illegal immigration in Arkansas. In this video Representative Woods discusses the ramifications in response to the gobbledegook from Steve Copley of the Friendship Coalition.
Mike Huckabee, who has been twisting, distorting, and lying about his record of running Arkansas as a Sanctuary State on the campaign trail is the reason why we're dealing with this issue at all. He was the driving force behind numerous attempts to expand inducements to bring more illegal aliens to Arkansas and make them nice and comfy. And he was the driving force in stopping any efforts to curb illegal immigration to Arkansas.
While I work through all of the brazen things Huck said in this interview enjoy this video of Huckabee hemming and hawing about his record and current position on illegal immigration. Note that he never directly answers anything that George says, such as when he ignores the question about his support scholarships and harboring illegal aliens. He just says, "aw, shucks, I'm not fer amnesty (paraphrased)."
Huck goes on to say he doesn't support the idea of Sanctuary Cities. What Huckabee actually doesn't support is the term Sanctuary, because he ran Arkansas as a Sanctuary State. "What I do support, though, is humane treatment of human beings," Huck says with his typical condescension for those of us who treasure our sovereignty and the rule of law.
He goes into his spiel about how "you don't punish a child because a parent committed a crime." ...soooo, you reward the parent by giving them our tax money and sending their kids to college in violation of federal law??? And you say it's racist to help the federal government enforce immigration laws, like 287(g). And thus encourage more and more of them to come to Arkansas...hence Arkansas's current status as a Sanctuary State...
Stephanopoulos lets him have it, though. I guess he doesn't like Huckabee insulting his intelligence, either. He forces Huckabee to admit that the legislation that Huckabee finds so easy to distort says absolutely nothing about the time someone has to be in Arkansas's schools, which Huckabee has been lying about for some time.
I could go on point by point, but time is running short right for now. I'll get back with this and much more as soon as I can.
Here's a link to AP's analysis.
This story doesn't specifically mention Mike Huckabee, but it's a dream come true for him. His compatriots in the nanny state movement, the democrats in congress, are proposing a ban on the sale of all junk food and soft drinks in all public schools in the country.
As I've mentioned many times, Mike Huckabee made a strong push to give college scholarships to illegal aliens. Other Republican candidates are making an issue of it, for good reason.
A group of anti-justice activists has vowed to put forth a ballot initiative if Gov. Beebe doesn't create a commission to study the death penalty.
Bob Novak's piece this week, which I meant to publish days ago, is devastating and devastatingly true about Huckabee. Heaven help us.
John Brummett has a very good column about how it is that Mike Huckabee is such a smooth operator with the media, throwing out soundbites like a disc jockey... Well, he was one.
