Huckabee Continues to Play on Anxieties About the Economy, Now...But When He Was Governor Arkansans Had to Tighten Our Belts

In his concession speech after his devastating Michigan loss, Mike Huckabee continued his mantra that "people are hurting".

This continued appeal to anxieties made me think of something I've been saying a lot, lately. When Mike Huckabee was governor he made Arkansas families, like mine, tighten our belts instead of making the state government tighten its belt. He has continued to claim, falsely, that the state supreme court forced him to raise taxes, but the truth is that he could have made the state government suck up the cost. Instead, he couldn't fathom how the state could do without a dime. Now, on the campaign trail, Huck keeps moaning for the plight of Americans. But back then our plight never crossed his mind. We were an endless supply of money for his number one concern...state government.
