(Some) Legislators in Fayetteville Shale Play Call For Tax Increase
I emphasize SOME because it is nowhere near all of the representatives who represent areas in the play, as you would assume from the headline of this story. Included among them is Stan Berry, R-Dover.
This whole debate has boiled down to the notion that it's better to accept this tax hike than the other. It's shaping up to be the wave of the future. Any time the democrats want to do something we as Republicans should oppose, they just need to give us a much worse alternative. The reality is that we could very easily defeat this and Sheffield Nelson's ballot initiative will have a very hard time passing. The voters are savvy enough to know what kind of damage such an onerous tax would do.
