Time to Tax Big News

The following is from a very clever and conscientious reader. I've edited it slightly.

---

So as not to appear hypocritical, I think Hussman and Brantley owe it to all Arkansans to voluntarily impose and remit to the state a sales tax on their newspapers and advertising. 6.5% will do. It will be less than the severance tax that they want to impose on the gas producers. How much would that be? $10 million? $20 million? If not, maybe Nelson will include that tax in his initiated act so Beebe will further reduce the sales tax on food.

---

It's just not fair that these evil corporations aren't paying a sales tax on their papers and/or ad sales. The sales tax on sales of papers and ads is comically low, ridiculously miniscule, insanely non-existent. It's time that they pay their fair share for the damage their doing to the environment.

Think of what that money could do for children and roads.

Brantley has always been a hypocrite. For exapmle, he was against the elimination of the food tax before he was for it. What's new is Hussman's tax and spend perversion. Maybe it's because Stephens Media is his competitor and he's using Sheffield Nelson, a known Stephens hater and turncoat, to get hurt the Stephens natural gas business. At least the old Gazette ownership had integrity, even if they wrong headed.
