State Can't Afford Tax Cut, But Can Afford a $100,000 Chandelier for Governor's Mansion

This is not a joke, unfortunately. While we average taxpayers struggle in a slow economy to pay the mortgage and the gas pump, the governor is living high on the hog. Keep in mind that the state can't afford to cut its spending or our taxes. But they can afford to spend $75,000 on a $100,000 chandelier.

This touching comment from the First Lady is such a relief, though: “As Mrs. Beebe so humbly and graciously remarks, ‘ This is the home of all Arkansans, and we are fortunate to serve as your hosts for a few years. ’”

Isn't that special? Heck, I might just invite myself to dinner at the Governor's Mansion some time. Maybe I'd like to take the wife to dinner some night under this fancy new chandelier, since it's the home of Arkansans.

Add this to the list of indispensable government needs and think about it the next time the gas pump rolls over $100. At least the Governor has a fancy new chandelier.

Here's the link.

I checked on the funding for the grant that is paying the lion's share of this loan. The Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council is funded by our tax dollars, as I suspected.

Wow. Thank you governor Beebe. I'll try to remember that when I fill up later today. Keep wasting our money.

When Beebe cut the food tax to 3%, bread, milk and meat were about 1/2of the price that they are today. So can the libs do arithmetic? Yes sireee. See, 3% of $2 equals 6% of $1 and thus the state can afford the chandelier, silly taxpayers.
