EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Family Council on Adoption Initiative Opponents

I spoke with Jerry Cox on the phone earlier this week. We discussed a number of issues. Among the issues discussed was recent news that a group opposing his adoption ballot initiative has dropped plans to challenge the measure in court.

"We wrote the measure with a legal challenge in mind. That's why we patterned it after the measure in Utah," said Cox. "They were going to challenge our signature and allege that there was fraud."

Apparently the opposition group, cleverly named "Arkansas Families First", hired a firm in Texas to review the signatures. They didn't receive the results they were hoping for.

"Families First" has received donations of $10,000 from the foudnatuin that funds the ACLU in Arkansas. When asked about what kind of other support the group might get in Arkansas Mr. Cox suggested that most national gay groups are focusing their funds on fighting the marriage amendment in California.

Look forward more posts on my interview with Jerry Cox in the coming week. They've got a lot on their plate this election. It's often a thankless job, so I want to thank them myself for all the hard and important work they do.

Here's the link.
