RNC Convention Coverage: Talking Heads Talking Over
There's nothing quite as fascinating to talking heads than hearing themselves talk. Even when they're sent to cover someone else's speech, they can't wait to hear what they think about it.That was the case last night on the big three networks. I watched the convention with a friend who didn't have cable hooked up, so we were forced to flip back and forth between the inane babblings of these self-important snobs.
The main goal was to hear Fred Thompson's speech, who, from the parts I was able to hear, was fantastic. If I can find all of his speech on video, I'll post it asap.
His most compelling passage was when he described McCain's courage while spending 5 1/2 years as a POW. It was truly a moving description of this harrowing experience.
His most memorable line was his description of democrats on taxes, which I'll have to paraphrase: "democrats say, 'don't worry about tax increases. We're going to raise them on businesses.' That's okay, unless you buy milk or eggs or oil or anything from a business or get a paycheck from a business..."
Another profound line from Fred: "It's pretty clear there are two questions we will never have to ask ourselves, 'Who is this man?' and 'Can we trust this man with the Presidency?'"
He was followed by Joe Lieberman, who served to deflate much of my enthusiasm, glowingly describing McCain's commitment to solving GLOBAL WARMING!!!, among other liberal policies McCain has championed. His only redeeming reminder was of Senator McCain's commitment to our victory in the War on Terror.
It was significant to have a former democrat vice presidential candidate speaking at the Republican convention for the Republican presidential candidate.

I know. Those retards ruined my night, too. Thankfully, I finally remembered that KARN was airing it. It would've been nice with the visuals and without these inflated egos filling my screen.
Who doesn't have cable?!
