Press Release: Candidate Van Gorder Stirring Things Up in the River Valley
Representative Breedlove out of touch with his district.
"Democratic State Representative Steve Breedlove has done his best to mislead his constituents into thinking that he is a conservative and shares his district's conservative values. Regrettably, his actual record in the state legislature shows that he values the policies favored by liberal special interest groups over the will of his constituents," Republican Party of Sebastian County Chairman Jake Files said in a statement today.
"Steve Breedlove ran for the state House two years ago as a social conservative. But after being elected, Breedlove helped kill legislation that would have prevented homosexuals from adopting children and serving as foster parents, a measure strongly supported by the people of Arkansas and an initiated act on the ballot in November. Breedlove has been rewarded for his work in the Legislature: the ultraliberal Kathy Webb of Little Rock has been a strong supporter of Breedlove's reelection. Webb has been a significant donor to Representative Breedlove's campaign. Rep. Breedlove should explain why he failed to vote against a gay adoption ban and why he has been an ally of one of Arkansas's most liberal legislators," Files said.
"Steve Breedlove is out of touch with the values of his constituents. His actions on last session's gay adoption legislation vote line up perfectly with Barack Obama's views on gay adoption *. The Republican Party is proud to have John VanGorder as our nominee for state representative in district 67. John is a conservative who will reflect the values of his constituents, and you can trust him to be the same person in Little Rock that he is in his district," Files said.

Steve has been a terrible disappointment to me. As a conservative Democrat, I had hope that out local Democrats were different from Gore, Kerry, & Obama. I kept thinking that conservative Democrats would change the Democrat party, instead either conservative Democrats are liars and are not really as conservative as they claim or they are the ones who change once they start hanging out with the Gore, Kerry, & Obama Democrats. I have voted a split ticket for 16 years now. Not this year. Van Gorder will be getting my down ballot vote.
