U.S. Supreme Court Rules Requiring Voter ID Constitutional

I read this yesterday and I'm very glad to see that a couple of state reps are already on the case. Greenberg and Woods, Republicans of Little Rock and Springdale, respectively, have already made efforts to pass legislation to require photo IDs for voters. Seems like common sense to me. How else do we prevent what can be a very easy form of voter fraud?

An irony of the case is that it is based on a challenge to an Indiana law, opposed by democrats (surprise, surprise) on the basis that it amounts to voter intimidation to require voters to prove their identity. These are the same democrats who are trying to intimidate and suppress Republican crossovers in the democrat presidential primary in Indiana. Here's the link.

Brummett Treats Obama's Racist, Anti-American Pastor With Kid Gloves

"When he said 'God damn America,' the Rev. Jeremiah Wright mostly performed an over-the-top Mark Twain.

"'Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it,' Twain is credited with saying."

That's how John Brummett opens his odd defense of Barack Hussein Obama's anti-American, racist pastor, Jeremiah Wright. That might be a compelling comparison if the U.S. government was America, but it's not. Wright said "God d*$# America", not God d*#@ the U.S. government.

America is more than some buildings in Washington and government programs and policies. It's you and me. It's the free air we breath. It's the sovereign ground we walk on. It's the freedom we cherish, that our family members and neighbors have fought and died for. When Obama's pastor says "God d&$@ America" he is saying God d#&* us and our freedom and those who have given their life for it. It reminds me of people who say that our flag is just a symbol and it's okay to burn it. They're burning the symbol of the freedom and goodness of our great nation.

Barack's pastor doesn't deserve to breath the free air of this country. He is more free and prosperous than he would be anywhere else on earth because of the greatness of this country which he curses, to say nothing of God, whom he also curses. That and so many other things make Brummett's softie explanation of Wright so off the mark.

Apparently, Barack Obama is the last person on planet Earth to figure out that his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, is an anti-American racist. 20 years in the pew wasn't a big enough hint. The truth is that Barack has been heavily influenced by this racist. His wife does imitations of Wright every time she opens her mouth.

The really juicy news is that the lady who arranged Wright's appearance at the National Press Club, yesterday, is a Hillary supporter. I have to say it was a brilliant move on the Clinton's part. Obama's comments today, in which he finally denounced Wright, are pitiful, especially considering that Obama spent 20 years eagerly lapping up Wright's venomous bile.

Keeping Hillary alive in this race is paying dividends. The democrats are going to have to choose whether they want the queen of baggage to be their nominee or B. Hussein Obama, the same B. Hussein Obama who is friends with a terrorist and whose pastor says "God d*%# America".

If only we had a candidate we could be excited about, instead of a "Republican" whose problems are almost too many to list, problems such as considering leaving the GOP, giving us campaign finance reform, opposing Bush's tax cuts, leading the Gang of 14 against conservative judicial nominees, pushing amnesty for illegal aliens, and, now, pushing a global warming agenda, to name a few. As I told a friend as McCain was sewing up our nomination, every major liberal legislative victory of the last decade had John McCain's name on it.

Brummett's column illustrates the similar frustration of liberals. Given that they gave us McCain, it's some consolation that we've been able to give them troubles with Republicans crossing over to keep Hillary in the race. If only Fred or Mitt were our candidates, we'd be poised for eight more years. This election, win or lose, we lose.

I'd like to encourage each of you to enjoy Earth Day, which is today. If you have the opportunity, try the way a friend of mine commemorates it. Each year, he races his SUV into some pristine sylvan paradise, picks out a tree, preferably one with a bird's nest in it, and shoots it down with his shotgun. Now, that's a happy Earth Day.

Pro-Illegal Alien Group, "Friendship" Coalition, Big Donor to Attorney General McDaniel

This is a very interesting finding. It appears that approximately $36,000 has been donated to Dustin McDaniel by numerous people affiliated with the pro-illegal alien group, the "Friendship" Coalition. I have a feeling that the AG isn't going to look too kindly on this, but it says a lot about him. If impartiality is something to be valued, he should refuse and return these contributions, or approve Secure Arkansas's measure.

He's smart enough to know it will win if it gets on the ballot. The tough part is getting the signatures to get it on the ballot, which is why you can expect McDaniel to stall his decision for as long as possible.

Global Warming Strikes Alaska...WITH RECORD SNOWFALL!!!

I saw comments on the ArkTimes blog about how silly it was to quote anecdotal evidence as proof against GLOBAL WARMING!!!. Meanwhile, these eager hoax believers were more than happy to spout that it caused the hurricanes of a few years ago, predicting untold calamaties to follow, because of all the hurricanes that were to come. Somehow they never came, which is also, somehow, proof of GLOBAL WARMING!!!

I was pleased to see that a brave conservative pointed out that Max referred to it as "climate change", instead of GLOBAL WARMING!!! It's interesting to consider the conundrum of liberals. They're so eager to believe in this hoax, even when the evidence against it keeps piling up. Aside from the embarrassing fact that the correlation between carbon and temperature is the exact opposite of what is professed by the propagandists, consider that the latest temperature studies show that we're in the midst of a 1o year cooling period. Numerous low temperature and snowfall records have been broken just this year. Somehow this is proof of manmade GLOBAL WARMING!!! It's become so embarrassing that they've taken to calling it "climate change", which gives them the freedom to blame any fluctuations on us. At that point, though, what's the point? Temperature has always fluctuated, so aside from the impossibility of making a reasonable correlation between our activity and climate change, it doesn't really make a difference because, either way, the temperature was going to fluctuate, with or without us.

But liberals don't expect to be held responsible by facts. All that matters is their intentions, which, like B. Hussein Obama's recent comments about the "need" for an increase in the capital gains tax for the sake of fairness, makes it pretty apparent that they aren't interested in fixing things, just spreading misery. That's liberalism in a nutshell. This current hoax is just one more attempt to push their socialist agenda on us. As always, their solution is to raise taxes, regulate us, and spend our money on feel good projects, regardless of success or need.

Surprise, surprise...judge races can become partisan. FYI, John, being endorsed by Republicans doesn't make someone "nonpartisan", perhaps bipartisan and savvy. It says that Courtney knows that it's important to pick up Republican votes. If anything, she is playing the partisan game very adroitly. She just happened to get caught trying to hide being democrat. If it hadn't been for that, we wouldn't be talking about this.

This is my favorite part: " Henry...finds herself running against a cabal of Hutchinsons and Holtists". As opposed to Williams finding himself running against a cabal of democrat activists who have coopted Republican support? Poor Courtney. I'm sure she's a very nice lady, but John knows this is politics. You'd think she was Joan of Arc.

Percy Malone: The $3 MILLION Man

I've long known that a number of legislators had a very profitable relationship with state government. Chief among these is Sen. Percy Malone, D-Arkadelphia, whose various business interests miraculously acheived revenue in excess of $3 million from the state last year.

The AP has compiled a list of various legislators who have been paid anything by any state agency. Most are benign and paltry amounts for goods and services that appear to be part of the regular course of business. Others deal with such large numbers and uncommon relationships that graft is an obvious assumption.

Wal-Mart Sells Out the Second Amendment

Sam Walton is rolling over in his grave. As a great admirer of Mr. Walton, I can tell you that I don't believe he would stand for this assault on the 2nd Amendment.

Wal-Mart caved to the demands of a
"bipartisan" group of mayors, calling themselves "Mayors Against Illegal Guns".

The group gleefully announced the deal today in a press conference in Washington, D.C. The irony, as usual, is that, until recently, the nation's capital was the most anti-2nd Amendment city in the country and still maintains its status as the most dangerous city in terms of gun violence.

Wal-Mart's plan will include a more complex system for selling firearms. If other gun stores were required to do what Wal-Mart is doing, many wouldn't be able to do it, because of the cost of implementing such an onerous system.

Wal-Mart gave this radical anti-gun group a platform to announce demands for a further effort to close the so-called gun show loophole.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Leftist-NY, made the fallacious statement that the gun show loophole allows vendors to sell "twenty" guns to anyone without a background check. As someone who has purchased firearms at gun shows, I can testify that that is an outright lie. It's propaganda.

The group exploited the deaths of students at Virginia Tech, ignoring the fact that a single concealed carry permit holder on campus could have saved many lives. Unfortunately, it's illegal to carry firearms on college campuses, so the law abiding citizens left them at home. Ironically, the killer did not observe this typically flawed gun law.

It is sickening that Wal-Mart would share the stage with a group such as this which is diametrically opposed to the views and values of the vast majority of its faithful and ordinary shoppers. I was going to Wal-Mart tonight for some groceries, but I think I'll go Krogering, instead.

Courtney Henry, Liberal Democrat

I really didn't want to do anything else about this Washington county judge race, but a number of trusted friends have been very persistent and persuasive that I should. After reviewing the evidence, it's pretty clear that Courtney Henry is a liberal democrat. She has consistently voted in democrat primaries, including the most recent presidential primary, which means that she voted for either Hillary or Obama.

On the other hand, Ron Williams, her opponent, has consistently voted in Republican primaries.

Dastardly Duo: Mike and Morril

This is who we should be fighting. Unfortunately, we have to fight liberals masquerading as Republicans.

Meanwhile, these two are running rings around us. The sad part about it is that it wouldn't be hard to stymie nearly anything they try. A unified conservative front could have shut down the severance tax. For some inexplicable reason, a number of our elected officials just gave up without trying, while others are just worthless RINOs.

Hillary Caught Lying, AGAIN...Arkansas Times Silent, AGAIN

Recently, Hillary was caught lying about having to run through sniper fire, with Chelsea in tow, as if the Secret Service or the U.S. military would ever let a First Lady and Daughter touch down in an area under sniper fire... Now, she's hocking a sob story about a woman in Ohio who died because she didn't have health insurance. An interesting side note, is that Hillary, who advocates the right to kill unborn babies, mentioned sadly that the woman's unborn baby also "died". How can an unviable tissue mass die. That's another thing you won't hear Max ever broach, as is this story, overall. Hillary has again been found out in a monumental lie. She eagerly repeated and embellished this story to promote her agenda. The only thing that turned out to be true was that the woman and her baby died. It wasn't because she didn't have health insurance.

Even the slightest, most oblique mention by Max? Not a peep.

Global Warming! Causing April Showers...Of SNOW!!!

Take note that GLOBAL WARMING!!! propagandists are starting to call it "climate change!!!", because it's getting a little embarrassing to have snow storms interrupt their GLOBAL WARMING!!! demonstrations.

The ironic thing about this, of course, is that they are trying to blame pollution for temperature fluctuations up and down... Seriously. Soooooooo, basically man is causing the temperature to go up and down, which already happened before we started destroying the planet, which makes it kinda hard to blame on us. They'll try, though. How else are they going to raise our taxes drastically and regulate us to death?

Meanwhile, GLOBAL WARMING!!! has caused a small blizzard in Minnesota this month. This is just too good. Don't expect Max to say a word about this, either. Like the New York Times, the Arkansas Times only prints "all the news that fits (their agenda)."

Since 2000, the Clintons have made over $109 MILLION. That's a heck of a payoff.

It reminds me of something from a long time ago. It was in 1991 or '92 that I remember watching Bill give a speech from the Governor's Mansion. He talked about how he wasn't a rich man, but he wished he was. Looks like he's gotten his wish.

Obama Still A Member of Racist Church

Here's a question: If Barack Obama didn't know about and doesn't support the seemingly endless statements of his racist, anti-American preacher, why is he still a member of the church?

It doesn't matter that his pastor has retired. Even if Obama hasn't attended services regularly, which is unlikely given claims that he used to listen to tapes of sermons in college. The reason why I say this, aside from the stupidity of the notion that he didn't know, is that the rest of the members of the church surely did and thus supported the teaching. That being the case, why would Obama want to associate with his fellow parishioners who obviously support the hate-filled message of their church.

Governor Beebe Taxing One Industry, Giving Our Money to Another...

What did I say would happen. We're short of money, supposedly (even though the state is reporting continued surpluses). So the governor blackmailed the natural gas industry and bribed the legislature to pass the severance tax. Meanwhile, he's offering OUR money to another company to build a plant.

I have a question. Why is the governor taking money from one business to give it to another? The answer is the hubris of big government do gooders who think they should shape the economy instead of the free market. Punish one business, subsidize another.

Again, I have a great idea. Why don't we just make it our goal to be as business friendly as possible and get out of the way of productivity??? I guess that's passe. Why do that when you can be a tinpot economic dictator?

Arkansas Teachers Taking From Poor Kids

We're inundated with propaganda about the nobility of teachers and how we're against children if we oppose this, that, or the other for teachers. Now we find out that teachers have been getting paid with money that was supposed to be for poor kids. Are the teachers demanding that their pay be cut to give the money back to the poor kids? Nope. To be sure they're embarrassed, but you can bet they would love it if the discrepancy had gone unnoticed.

I usually try to come up with a good pull quote to entice readers to click over. In this case, I would have had to quote the whole column. The gist is that Governor Beebe is getting way too much credit for his performance which has far more to do with spineless Republicans and a surplus than his own greatness. Here's the link.

Friendship Coalition's Newest Supporter: Dustin McDaniel

"It also may be incorrect to the extent it fails to acknowledge that access to many public benefits by undocumented immigrants is currently restricted by federal law," McDaniel said in his politically charged rejection of the measure.

If he'd just left it at his legal authority, which is to say whether or not it is ambiguous or not, that would've been fine. It is not his job to (re-)state the talking points of the measure's opposition. He is inserting himself into this issue. Calling illegal aliens "undocumented immigrants" is an insult to reason, American citizens, and legal aliens. McDaniel is clearly politicizing his role and has overstepped his authority.

This is bad news. Time to do the rewrite.

Thank God for men like this. Petty Officer Second Class Michael A. Monsoor selflessly saved the lives of his fellow Seals when he threw himself on a live grenade in a firefight in Ramadi, Iraq.

I did some checking and found this website for the organization that has submitted the ballot initiative to limit taxpayer funded benefits for illegal aliens. It's good to see that somebody else is mounting some opposition to the scourge of illegal immigration and the Arkansas "Friendship" Coalition. Governor's Budget Director Calls For Cuts...I'll Believe It When I See It

I've got a question, why don't we increase the budgets of Arkansans in preparation for an economic slowdown? Instead, the governor is picking out vulnerable industries to tax. Who cares about the people who are risking their capital or the people they employ and the ancillary industries who will be hurt? Meanwhile, he still wants to give away our tax dollars to other industries.

On it, Steve Barnes went unchallenged when he suggested that the economy in Arkansas must be strong because government revenues are up. His guests took that as a given.

In the same way, democrats complain about the federal deficit as if a shortage of government revenue (actually an abundance of federal spending) is evidence of economic weakness. More on that later.

Arkansas "Friendship" Council Deceives, AGAIN...

The anti-sovereignty group, known as the Arkansas "Friendship" Coalition, has again trotted out its favorite lie. That there is no difference between LEGAL and ILLEGAL aliens. They are now citing a study done by the Oklahoma Bankers Association as proof that enforcing our laws is bad. They are, again, attempting to deceive us with their favorite tactic of pretending that there is no difference between legal and illegal aliens.

Indiana democrat leaders are trying to intimidate Republican crossover voters. This is after Ohio democrats threatened to prosecute Republicans for crossing over. These are the same people who think it would be voter intimidation if we required voters to show identification. Mike Beebe: Modern Day John Adams?

Uh, no.

I don't have enough time to list all the important ways in which they differ, but I'll give you a few.

1. John Adams was fiercely opposed to the growth of government. Mike Beebe, on the other had...well, growing government is his cup of tea.

2. Speaking of tea. Adams helped lead our nation in the fight for our independence because of high taxation. Remember the Boston Tea Party? The rate of taxation which caused the uprise was about 3%, if memory serves.

I'm sure that was comically low by the standards of our local liberal pundits. In fact, if those liberal pundits had been around during the time of the Revolution, they'd have been calling for King George to raise this comically low tax with Tory Mike Beebe, while John Adams was fighting for our independence.

So, is Mike Beebe like John Adams? No. I would say Beebe's more like King George, although, with 3% taxes, Beebe actually makes King George look like a small government conservative. If John Adams were alive in Arkansas, he'd be leading a revolt against Beebe.

"From My Cold, Dead Hands"...Charlton Heston, American Icon, Dies at 84

October 4, 1923 – April 5, 2008

It's a sad day. Charlton Heston was one of my heroes. He was a freedom-loving, American Icon. His principled leadership of the National Rifle Association was the capstone of a life well lived. His achievements and success as an actor and as a man are an inspiration of American proportions. He was larger than life and holds an honored place in the pantheon of heroic Americans like John Wayne and Ronald Reagan.

I am glad to say that I had a chance to meet Mr. Heston. He looked much more frail than the giant image I had in my mind. But he only looked frail. His eyes were piercing. Shaking his hand I was shocked to find him as strong as an ox. My short encounter really speaks volumes about him. He was as true as his piercing blue eyes and as strong as his powerful grip.

He loved freedom and America dearly. To him, they were one and the same. He was loved dearly. He will be missed.

Horace Hardwick, RINO...People Like This Are the Reason Why This Tax Passed

Gas companies already account for severance taxes in the price they charge retail customers, said Rep. Horace Hardwick, R-Bentonville, noting most other gas-producing states have severance taxes that are much higher than Arkansas charges.

"They build in the charges for the severance tax from Oklahoma and Texas anyway," Hardwick said. "If the gas comes from Arkansas, they just get to keep the difference."

Supporting the tax is "a no-brainer," the Northwest Arkansas Republican said.
