Huckabee's Dream State: California Tells Citizens What They Can Eat...No Trans Fats
This is liberalism at its finest and Mike Huckabee's dream come true. People can't be trusted to take responsibility for their own actions. I guess the Huckabee weight problem is the government's fault? Someone must've pinned them down and made them eat jelly doughnuts. Here's the link.
Sanders: The End of Lu?
It's pretty well-known that Lu Hardin sees himself as the next governor of Arkansas. His latest imbroglio doesn't bode well for that ambition. Look for him to lay low for a few years and then spend several years trying to remake his image. Look for Dusty McDaniel to remind people when the next gubernatorial elections rolls around. Democrats Still Interested in Who Leaked Plame Name...Not Interested in 500 TONS of Yellow Cake Uranium Found in Iraq...
Democrat congressman, John Conyers, is calling for further investigation of the leaking of Valerie Plame's identity, despite the fact that we know who did it (Richard Armitage) and the fact that she was NOT a covert operative, which is the only thing which would've made it illegal.Meanwhile, there is absolutely no interest on the part of democrats and liberals (including Max, John, and friends) to draw attention to the fact that Joe Wilson was WRONG. Saddam had WMD.

Schools Looking at 4 Day Weeks...Promoting Gang Membership???
How on earth are we going to prevent kids from joining gangs if they aren't at school at least 5 days of the week??? I thought after school programs were the way to deter gang membership, based on the theory more time in school gives kids a productive alternative.

Robbing Peter to Pay Paul: Tyson Profits Plunge...Thank You, Ethanol Subsidies
Let me get this straight. We have to subsidize ethanol for it to be produced. Why would that be? A. it is less fuel efficient than gasoline, B. it cost more, and C. it gives your vehicle less power...
Now, the cost of beef is up, the cost of chicken is up, the cost of corn is up. Food all across the board is up. And gasoline has to compete with a subsidized fuel. That couldn't have anything to do with inflation, could it? Yea, subsidies!

Beebe Asks for Multiple Budgets Proposals from State Agencies...One to Cut 7%
I'm glad to see that my pleas are getting some attention at the governor's office. It should be a goal of the state to reduce spending and return money to the taxpayers every session.
It's unclear whether the governor is calling for a cut in actual budgets or in baseline budgets, that is, in what had been projected for the future. It appears it might be the former.

Obama Snubs Wounded Troops on World Tour
Super duper patriotic Barack Obama didn't have time to visit wounded troops on his recent world tour. I'd lay good money that he didn't want to be embarrassed by troops who might suggest that it's not very patriotic of him to call for our surrender, as he and the democrat party have been doing for years. Iraq Kicked Out of Olympics
Claiming that its rules prohibit influence on national olympic committees, the IOC has banned Iraq from the Olympics. I guess they didn't think Saddam Hussein executing and torturing athletes was political influence. That must be why they let athletes compete under his regime.

Barack Hubris Obama
Barry has just finished up his world tour, a premature victory lap. This trip has been the most presumptuous and arrogant affair in American history. It almost reminds me of Dewey in 1948, only the election is still months away. Obama is acting as if he's already won.
This piece from ABCNews offers a sickening glimpse of what a presumptuous snob Obama really is.

Sharon Dobbins is an odd woman. Still married to her husband despite his admission of sexually assualting a child, she had "compassion" for female inmates. Max Mocks Lesson in Basic Economics Offered by Repub Legislators...Offers NO Alternatives
Why should he offer an alternative? He wants high oil prices.Max somehow misses the calls by democrats to dip into the strategic petroleum reserve and demands for more production from OPEC. Dems act as if these will lower oil prices, but won't admit that more domestic production will lower prices, as well.
Full of his own immaculate brilliance, Max chuckles at how silly it is to prepare for the future by bringing more supply online in the future.
He also eagerly ignores the drop that occurred when the president announced lifting the ban on off-shore drilling.
In the meantime, kudos to these Republican legislators for taking a stand.

As you might have surmised, by now, I'm daring Max Brantley, John Brummett, and friends to admit the fact that Saddam had WMD, including 500 TONS of yellow cake uranium. Life Without Guns: Perspective on Gun Control
This is absolutely NOT meant as an insult to the LRPD or any other police department. Many of my friends are police officers. It's just a thought on life in a liberal's dreamworld of unarmed, honest citizens.
I've linked to a remarkable set of statistics compiled by a gun control group in an attempt to demonstrate that guns kill "children". Note that they've stretched "children" past the even ludicrous age of 18 to include 19 year old "children". They somehow miss the obvious conclusion that these "children", ages 15-19, who constitute almost all of the gun violence in their stats, are mostly victims of gang violence.
"Community Organizer"...Chicago Style...ACORN, Another Shady Association
Having cut his teeth with ACORN, I'd say one has to wonder about Barry's background as a "community organizer". ACORN, of course, is the group of radicals which has been prosecuted countless times on voter fraud charges. Also, Max brought us the story recently about its leadership embezzling $1 million. I guess even radical socialists are greedy.

...Note that he isn't saying that GLOBAL WARMING!!! will be apparent then. I'm reminded of Ted Danson warning that our oceans would be destroyed in 10 years if we didn't do something. We didn't do anything and 20 years later the oceans are somehow still vibrant and alive. Here's the link to Algore's randomly selected doom and gloom prediction.
FYI: Despite the embarrassing fact that Ted Danson was wrong and admitted to using scare tactics about the ocean, Oceana, a kook leftist "save the ocean" group, named an award for him. The Ted Danson Ocean Hero Award was established in 2003, which was 15 years after his 10 year prediction.

The Victimization of Barack Obama
From SlickBarry.com---
Even though Barack Obama has raised more money than any politician in history, his campaign wants to maintain the image of an underdog, a high-minded, squeaky-clean candidate who has been smeared by the big money Hillary Clinton campaign and the Republican attack machine.
The real question, is where are these attacks coming from? A conspiracy theorist might say that Obama's own supporters are creating well-timed, well-orchestrated attacks on their own candidate. Why? Here are some examples:
1. Opinion polls show many Americans think Obama is Muslim. He can't just come out and make a speech saying "I am not a Muslim" without a reason, for fear he'll offend Muslims or insinuate there is something bad about being Muslim. So the liberal, Obama-supporting New Yorker magazine published a controversial cover "satirizing" Obama as a Muslim. Obama is now allowed on a national stage to once again say "I am not a Muslim" without having to bring the subject up himself. He can also attack the "right wing", as if they are calling him a Muslim. He is a victim.
2. Obama makes a speech to supporters, and calls Americans "embarassing" for not being bilingual and wanting English as an official language. This is a reminder of his disdain for the working class, his "bitter" and "clinging to guns and religion" comments. The very next day, his supporter Jesse Jackson (whose son is Obama's campaign co-chair) makes a "cut his n**s off" comment on camera which swamps the news, makes Obama the victim, and mutes the bilingual story. (You didn't see it on TV, did you? See the video at http://slickbarry.com/)
3. Obama refuses to repudiate Rev Wright for his racist, anti-American preachings, and the criticism keeps gaining momentum. The media is calling for Obama to reject the Reverend, but Obama has already promised the press that he can't. At the controversy's peak, Wright inexplicably shows up at the National Press Club and repeats all of his comments again. Now Obama has his chance to repudiate the man for repeating the same statements, and of course, he does. Problem solved. Once again, Obama is a victim at the hands of his own friends.
As I Was Saying...Max Brantley (Libs, In General) Want High Fuel Costs
He doesn't want coal power. He doesn't want natural gas production. He doesn't want oil production.Sooooo, what's his solution to high energy prices? Well, it doesn't appear he has one. Like Barack Obama, Max and other liberals want high prices.
Iraq: Yeah, About that 500 Tons of Yellow Cake Uranium...
I bet you didn't know that our military captured over 500 TONS of yellow cake uranium in Iraq. There was no mea culpa from Joe Wilson or the Arkansas or New York Times. As far as they're concerned, it doesn't exist. One of our stated purposes for invading Iraq was to seize Saddam's WMD. We have since found rockets equipped with nerve gas and operable facilities for producing more WMD and, now, we know that Saddam had 500 TONS of yellow cake uranium.
Why do you think Max and his ilk are ignoring this? That's a real conundrum (sarcasm).

Federal Wilderness?
Turns out that Congressman Barney Frank thinks this should qualify as a federal wilderness. Why's that, you might ask? The evil natural gas companies are at it again. Now they're trying to cheat the state out of all the money we'd get if natural gas had to be trucked out of the state. Think of all the revenue from we won't generate from diesel fuel taxes. That being said, it's high time we put a tax on this proposed pipeline. They have plenty of money. Now the ball's in the court of the democrat congress, which claims to support drilling, now. They have to turn the other key, now.

USGS Gives Lake Maumelle Clean Bill of Health
After having watched "Troubled Water", the AETN propagandamentary, I have to ask how much it would cost to treat the water so as not to destroy the value of thousands of Arkansans' land. That never comes up. Aside from the fact that there is no pollution in the lake, despite the current amount of development, where is the evidence that people who drink out of Greer's Ferry, Hamilton, and Beaver are sick? What's that? There is none. How can that be? If that's the case, why are the kooks so dead-set on preventing land owners from using their land?

Fair Share?
I've had it up to here with liberals claiming that the wealthy don't pay their "fair share". The top 1% now pays nearly 40% of the tax burden. Mount Shasta Glacier Continues to Grow...Despite "GLOBAL" WARMING!!!
I'm not sure how this could be, since "GLOBAL" WARMING!!! is supposedly, well, global. How can "global" warming cause a glacier to grow? We've all heard, by now, that Mount Kilimanjaro's glacier was shrinking because of GLOBAL WARMING!!!. Democrat State House Candidate Fined By FDIC
Tom Akin, a self-proclaimed "chicken catcher", D-Russellville, it turns out, was fined by the FDIC last year for violations of federal banking regulations. Akin has brushed aside suggestions that a fine by the FDIC is a serious matter. As a member of the Arkansas General Assembly, Akin would wield significant influence over the Arkansas's Bank Commission.

SCIENCE: CO2 Good For Plants...
I'm kind of surprised that this news. I thought everybody knew that. Apparently, a group of scientists did a study and decided to remind the world. Turns out that plants, which are the most virtuous lifeforms on earth, need CO2. Something about they breath that in and exhale oxygen, which, it also turns out, humans and animals need to live. Funny how that works. Meanwhile, efforts are afoot, right here in Arkansas, to redefine CO2 as a pollutant.

Brantley (Libs and Dems, In General) FOR Higher Energy Costs
Despite the fact that nothing other than fossil energy sources and nuclear can meet our economy's needs and despite the already high costs, Max Brantley and other liberal democrats are for higher energy costs.
He opposes more petroleum production, increased refinery capacity, and coal power plants. Like Obama, Max relishes high energy prices. It's typical of liberals to want to control people, which is their solution to the GLOBAL WARMING!!! hoax.
Here's the link to Max's recent post lamenting that he can't stop more energy production for Arkansas. It's idiots like this who created rolling blackouts in California. They fought to stop increased energy sources and now, surprise surprise, they don't have enough and prices are sky high.

I was told last week that Arkansas Tech's president has a similar deferred compensation plan like that of Lu Hardin. Personally, I don't see the big deal. Executive pay is what it is. State Can't Afford Tax Cut, But Can Afford a $100,000 Chandelier for Governor's Mansion
This touching comment from the First Lady is such a relief, though: “As Mrs. Beebe so humbly and graciously remarks, ‘ This is the home of all Arkansans, and we are fortunate to serve as your hosts for a few years. ’”
Isn't that special? Heck, I might just invite myself to dinner at the Governor's Mansion some time. Maybe I'd like to take the wife to dinner some night under this fancy new chandelier, since it's the home of Arkansans.
Add this to the list of indispensable government needs and think about it the next time the gas pump rolls over $100. At least the Governor has a fancy new chandelier.

Democrat Culture of Corruption Continues...Jackson, Miss Mayor Indicted (psst he's a democrat)

Oil Prices: What Goes Up Must Come Down

$260 BILLION Surplus...Meanwhile Arkansas Taxpayers Languish
It was under these circumstances that Governor Beebe raised taxes on an industry that was growing the economy. It's under these circumstances that he sits on his throne as as average Arkansans struggle to deal with a languishing economy.

Barack Obama has long talked about being a "community organizer" in Chicago. Putting aside the fact that this is the fault of environmentalists who refuse to allow proper forest management to prevent such blazes, these wildfires are emitting exponentially more pollution than all the cars in the state. That being said, is it fair to assume that no mention of this is made by Algore because it highlights how quickly nature can outrun us in polluting? Here's the link.

Senator Jesse Helms: American Statesman Passes Away...1921-2008
Senator Jesse Helms passed away early this morning, which is quite appropriate considering how much he loved his country. Passing away on the 4th puts him in good company with other great Americans who also died on our nation's birthday.I had the privilege of meeting Senator Helms several years ago. I told him that he was the only politician outside of Arkansas (aside from presidential candidates) to whom my father would make campaign donations. He was very proud to hear this. I will always remember this encounter fondly.
We owe Senator Helms for helping give us President Reagan. Senator Helms was instrumental in helping Reagan win North Carolina in 1976, which, it is said, strongly influenced Reagan's decision to run again in 1980. The 1976 North Carolina victory is widely considered to be the most important primary victory for conservatives in Republican history. Senator Helms was a gracious gentleman, a true American patriot, and a conservative icon.

Fred on Freedom
Too bad we couldn't be excited about our nominee. We have the perfect opponent.

Happy Independence Day: "Our Lives, Our Fortune, and Our Sacred Honor"
In case you're wondering what all the hoopla was about today...Here's the story of our independence.
Freedom Endures: America Turns 232 (Arkansas Journal Turns 1)
"Today we remember and honor those fighting to keep us free, who are in harm's way even as we gather with family and friends for hot dogs and fireworks. "And with that, it is with great pleasure today that I bring you the inaugural posting of the Arkansas Journal, Arkansas's Conservative Blog."
That's the first first post for Arkansas Journal from this Independence Day last year. It's been a great year. Our troops have continued their successful fight in the War on Terror and freedom endures.

Iraqi Soccer Team Loses...Nobody Kills Players
I'd like to thank Rush Limbaugh for this brilliant observation. I'm sure the thought crossed the mind of the players, as well. That's one more reason to be thankful for President Bush.

State Posts $176 Million Surplus...Time to Raise Taxes?
We were in the state of surplus a few months ago when, for some reason, the governor decided he needed to raise taxes (remember the severance tax?).
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting to hear that the governor is interested in increasing the budgets of Arkansas families by lowering our taxes. I guess it's too much to ask, even in hard economic times.

Classic: Liberal Reason to Support NPR Funding
This is a typical supporter of NPR."Congress should continue paying for it because if they don't, the taxpayers will end up paying for it."
That's priceless.

Halter Misappropriating Taxpayer Resources to Promote Lottery?
Somebody help me with this: since when did it become okay for government staffers to be utilized to promote political agenda? I suppose this is common, but in a picture from the Arkansas section of the DemGaz last Friday of Bill Halter's Director of Governmental Affairs, Nathan Hamilton, is shown assisting the Lite Guv announcing the collection of the lottery signatures. One would assume that the taxpayers wouldn't have to pay for government staffers to support a lottery initiative. Maybe I'm an idealist, but I'd like to see a prohibition against state employees doing political work while on the taxpayers' clock. In the meantime, Mr. Hamilton needs to reimburse the taxpayers.

Wes Clark: McCain Has No Command Experience...I Guess He Thinks Obama Does...
Perhaps Obama does if you mean he has command and control experience. That certainly seems to be what he's supporting for our economy.
Here's the link to Clark's stupid comments.

Sanders on Republican U.S. House Losses
As long as democrats keep running as conservatives, this will keep happening, that is, until the people in these districts realize that conservative democrats have no power and empower liberal democrats.

Clark Trying to Sabotage Obama (for Clintons)?
Well, that's a serious consideration given how damaging his comments were to Obama, especially considering that Obama received the brunt of the blow back from Clark's disgraceful remarks.

Adoption Initiative Reaches Signature Goal

HuckPAC Endorses Creator of the Bridge to Nowhere
Mike Huckabee is showing his tax and spend colors, again. His new PAC, HuckPAC, has endorsed the author of the Bridge to Nowhere in the upcoming Republican primary. Congressman Don Young is being challenged by fiscal conservative Alaska Lt. Governor Sean Parnell, who has been endorsed by the Club for Growth.
The Bridge to Nowhere, as you might recall, is the $223 million bridge to Gravina Island, Alaska, which has a population of 50 people. If you break that down per person, it would cost $4,460,000 per person. At that price, we could buy every person on the island a plane and a rather expensive boat and have money to spare.
Now that I've reminded you of that, it's amazing that anybody who claims to be a fiscal conservative supports Mike Huckabee.

40 Years Later: The Population Bomb Bombs
Turns out that Paul Ehrlich's "classic" was science fiction. Yet, his publishers still saw fit to release a 40th anniversary edition. It's remarkable on several accounts. One is that it's illustrative of the way hoaxes can lead to hysteria. Another is the utter indictment this glaring hoax is on the zero sum understanding of economics of socialism.
Indeed, it's striking that these socialist morons still don't realize that the starvation in the world today is in direct proportion the degree to which socialism is prevalent. How many more decades are we going to continue to believe that Africans aren't capable of helping themselves? That's exactly what leads to the international welfare that has shackled Africa and the rest of the Third World. Here's the link.
Rep. Harrelson: Molester Dobbins May Not Be Seated
It's not clear that Harrelson is going to lead or support an effort to refuse Dobbins reentry to the House. His commentary is candid, however. Harrelson has been known to be an ethics hawk. Hopefully, he'll be willing to help lead the charge against Molester Dobbins. Here's the link.
Surprise!: Brummett Believes GLOBAL WARMING!!! Hoax
Despite the remarkable evidence to the contrary liberals just can't help but be faithful to the lies of GLOBAL WARMING!!!
As a service, I'll remind them of some of the overwhelming evidence against their hoax. How about the inconvenient truth that ice core samples show that temperature always precedes atmospheric carbon increases by hundreds of years??? Guess that's too much to ask. How about the conundrum of the fact that if we're at a 500 year temperature high then there must've been something outside of man-made activity to cause that...meaning that it is well within the normal realm of our climate to fluctuate independent of us. Really. If our climate fluctuates anyway, how can you claim that we are responsible, especially given the backward correlation of carbon and temperature?
That's just a few. I don't expect Mr. Brummett is interested in anything that disagrees with his faith in this hoax. Here's the link.

VIDEO: Obama Supports Higher Gas Prices...Just Wishes They'd Been More Gradual
This guy is a full-blown Socialist. He suggested that he was going to help us deal with high gas prices by "putting more money in (our) pockets". Where does he think money comes from? He also wants the government to help private industry to become more responsive to crises. That's a laugh. The government's a great example.
