FOR Phil Wyrick for Pulaski County Judge...Plus Press Release

NEWS RELEASE

For Immediate Release:

Media Contact: Phil Wyrick 501-xxx-xxx

Wyrick Challenges Villines to Give Back Bonus

Little Rock- The Pulaski County Quorum Court last night voted to give the county’s 1,200 full-time employees and elected officials a bonus equal to 3 percent of their annual salaries.

According to Pulaski County Comptroller Mike Hutchens, this bonus will cost the general fund between $775,000 and $800,000.

Judge Buddy Villines who receives $85,000 in salary would receive an estimated $2,550 in bonus.

Phil Wyrick, candidate for Pulaski County Judge, challenges Villines to not accept the bonus and return it to the general fund to be used to help fund more beds in the county jail.

Wyrick said, “ During this tough time in our economy we’re all sympathetic to the financial needs of our county employees and their families. However, I don’t believe now is the right time for Buddy Villines to take a $2550 bonus from the taxpayers. I believe that leadership is about leading by example, so I would refuse to take the bonus based on the current economic situation in both America and Pulaski County. I would like to challenge my opponent to refuse the bonus and use it to house more prisoners! “

Commenting on receiving the endorsement of the editorial page of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Wyrick said “ I was both excited and honored to be endorsed by the Democrat Gazette. The Democrat Gazette’s endorsement mentioned several of the reasons that I’m running for Pulaski County Judge. My candidacy is receiving this and other endorsements because of my stand on keeping criminals off the streets by having the jail running at full strength, protecting our drinking water in Lake Maumelle and restoring honest and integrity to county government.”

Reason #1, he says, is that Obama's election will mark the victory of 1960s Left-wing radicals. I'm not making this up. Read it for yourself if you can put up with the effete rhetoric.

Reason #2, he says, is that Obama will keep Iran from "clos(ing) themselves in the Iranian identity...the Arabs (from) coldly, freezingly imprison(ing) themselves in the Muslim identity...and African-Americans (from) believ(ing) that the American society is more and more built against them."

CNN Reporter Lies to Palin in Interview

Claiming that the National Review said the following about Sarah Palin in an interview, a CNN interviewer completely misrepresented the actual statement:

"I can't tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above."

Turns out that that statement wasn't made in the National Review, at all. It was, however, lifted from a piece by Byron York, but he wasn't suggesting that he believed that about Governor Palin, but that the media was painting her that way.

It's very important to see, though, that this "scientist" is tipping the hand of what the real goal of GLOBAL WARMING!!! hoaxers really is, stopping economic growth, i.e. capitalism. Note that these folks pushed so hard for the Kyoto Accords, but conveniently left out many communist countries like China, which are the worst polluters.

Candidate John Van Gorder OpEd

This was too good not to reprint. Things are heating up in the Van Gorder/Breedlove case.

---

Last week Rep. Steve Breedlove’s reelection campaign began airing a television commercial accusing me of having a negative campaign and making misstatements about his record. This is a ridiculous assertion.

My campaign has been very clear in pointing out the differences between my positions and Mr. Breedlove's.

I have avoided making any personal attacks on Mr. Breedlove, and have contrasted our differing positions fairly. Sadly, Mr. Breedlove has not followed my lead in his new television ad. It is disingenuous for Mr. Breedlove to criticize my campaign as negative while digitally altering my image to mock me.

The facts are simple. I received the endorsement and an 'A' rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA gave Mr. Breedlove a 'D+' rating. I am for banning gay adoption; my opponent claims he shares this position, but during the last legislative session he skipped two votes on a bill that would have banned gay adoption.

These are simple facts about the positions of the two candidates in this race. If Mr. Breedlove thinks that having the facts about his record pointed out is 'negative' campaigning, he must not think very highly of his own record.

Stolen Sign? Who Cares? How About Stolen Votes and Assault McCain Supporters

Apparently, a stolen sign in ritzy parts of Little Rock are a big deal to Max, but he doesn't seem to care that Obama supporters are stealing votes from mentally handicapped people and assaulting female McCain supporters. How about trying to register prison inmates to vote.

While the evidence of voter fraud continues to pile up Max continues to ignore it and make excuses. Liberals continue to justify ACORN's nationwide campaign to steal the election for Obama by registering huge numbers of fake and dead people by claiming that Republicans are trying to suppress voter turnout. Their right that we want to suppress fraudulent voter turnout, but there is no evidence otherwise, versus the huge stacks of evidence that democrats are in the process of stealing this election.

No Electoral College? Why Not Get Rid of 2 Senators Per State While You're At It Rep. Davenport?

It's really not fair that bigger states with larger populations should be subjected to the whim of smaller states with two U.S. senators. We should move to a proportional U.S. Senate, like the U.S. House of Representatives, which is far more democratic than the current unfair system that penalizes large states. Large states should be given more U.S. senators to represent their larger populations.

Why not?

That's the exact same reasoning for Monty Davenport's planned legislation to end Arkansas's participation in the Electoral College, part of national push by democrats to lessen the importance of small states, like Arkansas, in presidential elections. This nationwide campaign will do to small states the same thing that getting rid of two U.S. senators per state would do. It will erase the significance of small states.

UPDATE: Arkansas GLOBAL WARMING!!! Commission Issues "Findings"

Despite mounting (overwhelming) evidence to the contrary, we're subsidizing a commission dedicated to foisting a socialist agenda on Arkansas, justified by the hoax of GLOBAL WARMING!!!

Hold on to your wallets. They're estimating it will cost us $3.7 BILLION (as government programs go, you can expect to more than double that) to implement their plan, and that's just in tax dollars. They don't estimate how much they will stifle economic activity with the new regulations and controls they're sure to push. Arkansas Update: Governor Beebe Suggests Big Labor Plans Could Hurt Business in Slow Economy

In an interview posted at CNBC.com, today, Governor Mike Beebe (D), suggested that now (in an economic downturn) is not the time to expand the power of Big Labor. It's a move, he suggests, that would hurt businesses at a time when we can least afford it.

“In today’s business climate, in today’s world with going on right now, we don’t need to inhibit our business opportunities to be successful. We need to make sure they have the jobs and they create the jobs and that they give the jobs for our workers to be able to have. Right now is not the time, I think, to do those things that inhibit further business activity.”

It's telling logic similar to his presidential candidate's suggestion that he (Obama) might hold off on tax increases during the current economic downturn. The question for both of them is why would we want to do something that will hamper businesses or the economy EVER?

Big Labor and its supporters in congress are pushing to end the use of secret ballots in union elections. I have to ask another question: why are secret ballots good enough for America but not good enough for workers who don't want to be bullied or suffer retribution for not supporting union activity?

I applaud Governor Beebe for his statement, though, as far as it goes. I know he'll take some heat for it.

U of A Chancellor Pushes for In-State Tuition for Illegal Aliens...Support Illegal Entry into Razorback Stadium???

I'd say we should fire him, but we'd be just as likely to impeach the Governor as that.

On a side note, which I may develop later, it's beginning to appear to me that it was a ruse by the Guv to say that it's illegal for illegal aliens to attend Arkansas colleges, a statement which he later recanted. Why would he do that? Perhaps he did so to decrease the chances that Secure Arkansas's ballot initiative would seem unnecessary and lessen its chances of gathering enough signatures to get on the ballot... Just a thought.

Christopher Buckley: An Intellectual Idiot

Unfortunately, there's something in the water of a lot of "conservative" "intellectuals" who are demonstrating what total buffoons they are. They like to sit around smugly discussing the finer points of how smart they are. Surprise, surprise, if you act like an elitist (ahem, liberal), you'll become one.

Buckley, whose father also lost touch with reality, in his latter days, has reasoned that Obama obviously thinks well, because he supposedly writes well. There is evidence that Obama didn't write all of his own books. In fact, there is a growing suspicion that Obama's ghost writer was none other than William Ayers.

UPDATE: Better Business Bureau on Democrat Candidate Scott Smith

Here's the link.

Protect the Electoral College...and Arkansas...From Monty Davenport

I'll be talking a lot more about this subject in the coming weeks and months because an assault on the Electoral College is being prepared by Rep. Monty Davenport, D-Yellville. Davenport ran legislation last session to stop Arkansas from participating in the Electoral College, favoring casting all of Arkansas's Electoral votes for whichever presidential candidate wins the national popular vote instead of whichever candidate wins Arkansas's popular vote.

Why is this significant? Well, consider the fact that rural and small states avoid being at the whim of bigger states because of two things: the Founders' Constitutionally planned invention of the Electoral College and assigning each state, regardless of size, TWO U.S. senators. Without those two things, America would be no different from European democracies, which are dominated by big cities.

American presidential candidates have to take into account what small states think, too, because of the Electoral College. Without it, democrats would have a significant advantage, which is their primary motivation, because they wouldn't have to spread their campaigning efforts thin across wide rural areas. Instead they could focus almost exclusively on what would become the center of influence in presidential elections: big cities. Big cities are obviously more dense in population than small rural states and democrats traditionally do well in large metropolitan areas, which tend to be more liberal and have little understanding of life here in flyover country.

You can bet the folks in Yellville aren't pushing for this. So what's Davenport's motivation? Well, he's apparently signed on to a national campaign being pushed by democrats to rid America of the Electoral College. Mark my words, this is very bad for Arkansas and other small states. It will destroy our significance in presidential elections and Rep. Davenport ought to be ashamed of himself for so flagrantly putting his party ahead of his Arkansans.

I have to ask why they don't push through the demise of secret balloting for government elections while they're at it. There's only one reason to do this and that's so that union thugs will know whom to intimidate for not toeing the line.

I have been very busy with some other matters, but I wanted to share some interesting documents I've received about Candidate Smith's possible malfeasance.

Smith, a Democrat State House candidate from Bryant, is the owner of what appears to be the now-defunct SKB Consulting, which promised clients that he could broker huge financing for various projects.

One client, a real estate development company in Roswell, Georgia, agreed to pay a $50,000 "refundable" deposit for Mr. Smith's services. To date, they have not received financing or their deposit which they have requested. Here's a complaint letters the Georgia company wrote regarding Mr. Smith's malfeasance.

Obama Mocks Joe the Plumber...Insults Average People

VIDEO: Public Works Means Taxes

Soooo, how do we pay for public works projects? They're trumpeted for "creating" jobs, but the capital has to come from somewhere. The truth is it's a diversion of capital from the private sector, which is more efficient with capital, to the government, which is eats money. Even when the government borrows money it's still diverting capital, because it would otherwise be loaned to private intestors.

So the next time you hear a politician heralding a public works project for "creating" jobs, remember it's doing so at the expense of a more efficient use of the capital.

Sanders FOR Annual Legislative Sessions...

This is one of the rare occasions when I have to disagree with David. The whole scheme to go to annual sessions is designed to line the pockets of legislators. Simply put, they make more money when the Ledge is in session and it gives them more "legitimate" days to come to Little Rock to collect per diem, mileage, and steak dinners from lobbyists. I haven't even mentioned the other deleterious effects it will have on taxpayers, such as prolonged opportunities to raise our taxes and further encroach on our lives, but also to remove and further insulate these "citizen politicians" from real citizens, by keeping them out of the real world and out of touch with constituents (real people) for longer periods.

Another constituency loves the idea, though...LOBBYISTS. The more time they get to spend with legislators, buying their friendship, is more time they can get them to do their bidding and not that of Arkansas taxpayers (often at the expense of Arkansas taxpayers).

David's arguments are well-intentioned and well-reasoned, but do not take into account what I've mentioned above. He does suggest ending per diem, which is a good idea. Unfortunately, that's not likely since it's not a part of the amendment, as far as I know. Legislators aren't likely to vote away more money.

Arkansas Lottery? Govt Having More of Our Money in Tough Times Isn't a Solution...It's the Opposite

"It seems state lotteries can be just the ticket in tough economic times."

That's the opening line from a recent Rob Moritz's article for the Arkansas News Bureau and he's not quoting someone else.

I have to ask some questions with such an opening line. Where does Mr. Moritz think that money's coming from and why does he think it's "the ticket" for government to have more money in tough economic times, instead of citizens?

The money doesn't just appear out of nowhere. And it doesn't help Arkansans because it diverts capital from more productive hands to the wasteful and inefficient hands of government.

Now, I expect that kind of economic ignorance from Lite Guv Halter, but I expect a little more objectivity from an otherwise very good reporter. At a time when people are struggling to make ends meet it's illustrative that lotteries are a bane and not a boon to economies. Instead of focusing on meeting their primary needs, they're being encouraged to waste what little they have on the pipe dream of avaricious wealth.

At times like this, the answer isn't more money in the hands of government. It's more in the hands of Arkansans.

FINALLY! McCain Calls Obama Friendship with Unrepentant Terrorist

Barack Hussein Obama claims that it's not a big deal that he's friends with Bill Ayers, founder of the extreme, radical Leftist terrorist group, Weather Underground, because he was 8 when Ayers committed his terrorist acts...

A show of hands, please: how many of you wouldn't mind your 8 year olds growing up to be friends with Osama bin Laden?

Does Obama really think we're stupid enough to think it makes a difference how old he was when Ayers bombed the Pentagon, especially when you consider that Obama was an adult when he sought Ayers out as a mentor? Is Obama really stupid enough that he didn't know that Ayers is a terrorist, that his "pastor" (more like racial instigator), Jeremiah Wright, hates America, that Tony Rezko is a crook, that ACORN is the leading promoter of voter fraud in the country...?

Finally, now, John McCain is calling him on it. McCain, for all his bluster about being a Maverick, sometimes has a hard time going after democrats. He's pretty quick to go after Republicans, at least Conservative Republicans.

McCain's been on a tear lately, thankfully. Yesterday he also called the dems, and Obama, on their guilt in the current financial meltdown, by protecting Fannie Mae and foisting sub-prime loans on America. He even called Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, specifically, for their lead roles in this scandal that makes Enron look like a petty crime.

Who cares that fat kids don't get picked on any more than before BMI tests. The problem is that it's not the government's job to decide who's too fat. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Gotta Love This...Max Headline: "How to steal elections?"...NO Mention of ACORN Voter Fraud

Of course not. Why would Max mention ACORN's wanton efforts to steal elections by engineering the most blatant voter fraud in recent history??? Here's another, of many, many, instances.

ACORN's fraudulant electioneering isn't just a few isolated instances. It's widespread.I scoured his blog for any mention of it and couldn't find a peep.

What I did find was this attempt to make it look like the only foul electioneering is perpetrated by Republicans.

Breedlove/Van Gorder Story Takes Off...Breedlove Running Scared

I brought you this story earlier in the week and it has taken wings. Now, the Arkansas Project, probably the second best Conservative blog in Arkansas ;), has put together some great coverage of the developments that have ensued since I first posted about it.

Also, according to some sources, Rep. Steve Breedlove had to scramble to bring in the big guns to help pull his campaign out of the tailspin this story has caused. Governor Beebe will be campaigning with Breedlove today in Charleston.

Breedlove fired off a quick response to Steve Harrelson's blog, UndertheDome.com, as well.

CHEAT?: Scott Smith, DEM Rep. Candidate from Bryant, Cheated Clients Out of Tens of Thousands, At Least/Business Expelled By IL Secretary of State

In April of 2007, State Representative Candidate Scott Smith, DEMOCRAT-Bryant, was prohibited from operating his business, SKB Consulting, LLC, by the Secretary of State of Illinois, Securities Department, for violating Illinois securities law.

Candidate Smith apparently attempted to charge at least one person in Illinois $25,000 to help procure a loan. According to documents from the Illinois Secretary of State, Mr. Smith also violated Illinois code by operating in Illinois without registering as a broker.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. Apparently, Mr. Smith has left a number of former clients financially bloodied in the wake of his shady business practices. In addition to operating a loan brokerage illegally, Mr. Smith has also cheated one client out of $50,000.

Ann Festa, an officer of Landbank Development Corporation, of Roswell, GA, claims that Mr. Smith accepted a $50,000 "refundable" retainer to help her company procure a loan for a development. Mr. Smith failed to procure the loan and subsequently refused to refund the "refundable" retainer. It appears that this is another case of the Democrat Culture of Corruption.

According to the documents from the Illinois Secretary of State's office, Mr. Smith's company had a website advertising his services as a loan magician (my word). As of this printing, I have been unable to locate said website, which initially led me to believe that he is no longer operating his business, at least not outside of Arkansas or via the internet. I was able to obtain contact information for his business at a website called MerchantCircle.com.

Upon that discovery, I was also able to find a listing for SKB Mortgage Partners at the same address. I called the number late last night and found an answering machine for the business. The same number and address are listed for his campaign headquarters on his campaign website.

As of this printing, I have been unable to reach Mr. Smith for comment, but will attempt to do so, again, and update this story as it develops.

TREASON: Obama Attempted to Sabotage President's Effort to Keep Troops in Iraq with Iraqi Leaders

What else should this be called?

" At the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to convince Iraqi leaders in private conversations that the president shouldn't be allowed to enact the deal without congressional approval."

That's from a breaking story in today's Washington Times which was confirmed by Obama aides recently. I guess Obama hasn't read the Constitution, which gives authority over foreign policy to the president, not congress.

Obama's attempt to sabotage the president is nothing short of treason and endangered not just our troops but America. I can't believe that this man is on the cusp of winning election. Can you imagine how reassuring this must be to our allies (hint, that's sarcasm), to know that Obama actively sought to undermine our troops while they were in harm's way?

Press Release: Candidate Van Gorder Stirring Things Up in the River Valley

Representative Breedlove out of touch with his district.

"Democratic State Representative Steve Breedlove has done his best to mislead his constituents into thinking that he is a conservative and shares his district's conservative values. Regrettably, his actual record in the state legislature shows that he values the policies favored by liberal special interest groups over the will of his constituents," Republican Party of Sebastian County Chairman Jake Files said in a statement today.

"Steve Breedlove ran for the state House two years ago as a social conservative. But after being elected, Breedlove helped kill legislation that would have prevented homosexuals from adopting children and serving as foster parents, a measure strongly supported by the people of Arkansas and an initiated act on the ballot in November. Breedlove has been rewarded for his work in the Legislature: the ultraliberal Kathy Webb of Little Rock has been a strong supporter of Breedlove's reelection. Webb has been a significant donor to Representative Breedlove's campaign. Rep. Breedlove should explain why he failed to vote against a gay adoption ban and why he has been an ally of one of Arkansas's most liberal legislators," Files said.

"Steve Breedlove is out of touch with the values of his constituents. His actions on last session's gay adoption legislation vote line up perfectly with Barack Obama's views on gay adoption *. The Republican Party is proud to have John VanGorder as our nominee for state representative in district 67. John is a conservative who will reflect the values of his constituents, and you can trust him to be the same person in Little Rock that he is in his district," Files said.

Obama Dichotomy on the War and the Bailout

QUESTION: Why have democrats (Obama in particular) been so interested focusing on blame and not on solutions in the War in Iraq while they've only been interested in finding solutions (if you wanna call a $700 billion bailout a solution) for the economic situation and assigning absolutely no blame.

You can rest assured that if the economic crisis was actually the fault of Republicans democrats would only be interested in assigning blame.

Arkansas is the Natural State and one of our greatest natural resources is our population of turtles. It's high time we put a stop to this greedy profiteering and establish a severance tax on turtles. We can't wait till the next General Assembly to remedy this exploitation. The governor must call a special session to deal with this, ASAP!

Palin's Charitable Contributions

Last week, I brought you the story about Joe Biden's charitable contributions, or lack thereof.

Sarah Palin released her tax returns late last week and, surprise, surprise, she donated significantly more than Biden did. With an income that is almost a third of Biden's she donated almost TEN TIMES (in real dollars) what Biden has donated over the last few years.

It's not too surprising, though, given that liberals consider charity to be a government function, not a personal responsibility.

Sanders on St. Mark Baptist Church/Mark Leverett Campaign Van...And Leverett's Racial Chicanery

This is a remarkably blatant violation of the tax exempt status of St. Mark Baptist Church. Judicial candidate Mark Leverett is apparently a deacon at St. Mark.

I look forward to further investigation by the local media. Also, Max points out that Mark Leverett has two different kinds of signs and he, apparently, supports segregation. In black neighborhoods of Little Rock, Leverett's signs feature a picture of him (hint, he's black), while in white neighborhoods his signs don't feature his mug. The point of Leverett using his picture is to let people in black neighborhoods know he's black. I haven't seen such blatant racial chicanery in a campaign in Arkansas in a long, long time.

Find the Racism...

Can't find it? Well, AP says it's there. Their coverage says Sarah's speech has a "racial tinge". It's not very objective journalism. Liberals will go to any length to smear their opponents. It's Sarah Palin who is at fault she repeated a true story from the New York Times that Obama is friends with a terrorist.

Veep Debate Analysis...Better Late Than Never

By popular demand, I'm finally getting around to throwing in my two cents about Thursday's debate.

First, I'd like to point out that 70 MILLION people watched it. I think it's pretty safe to assume that all those people weren't tuning in to watch Joe Biden. Although, I may be wrong. He was such a superstar in the primaries...

Now, as for my thoughts on the event itself, I was struck by the remarkable difference in the way the candidates handled themselves. Biden illustrated what 36 years in Washington can do to enable someone to drone on endlessly without actually saying something. Sarah, on the other, spoke in the most unique way I've ever witnessed a candidate at that level. She looked and sounded like a real person. There's a reason for that...she IS a real person, not an out-of-touch, liberal blowhard.

I could dedicate numerous posts to the uncountable times Biden lied in response to the devastating indictments Sarah made, but I'll keep that limited. Suffice it to say that his number one response to being caught red-handed was to lie. Take, for instance, his response to Sarah reminding America that Barry promised to meet, unconditionally, with terrorists like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Biden flat-out lied about that, claiming that it never happened. That's probably the most blatant lie that's been told on national television since Bill Clinton told us he didn't fool around with Monica Lewinsky. Only this time, everybody had seen the event in question, Biden included. He happened to be there when Obama said it. Biden actually attacked Obama for it.

The actual number of Biden's lies is , at least, 14. There's a reason why Biden had to lie so many times, and it's not because he was winning the debate. Of course, liberals aren't too bothered when one of their own violates the 9th Commandment. Adherence to it would just be forcing religion on someone.

Sarah, on the other hand, was plain-spoken. If she seemed uncomfortable, it's more a measure of not being used to dealing the kind of brazen dishonesty and blowhardiness (is that a word) Biden demonstrated than being overwhelmed. Regardless, she connected with people. I can't count the number of people who have told me that they were surprised by the response average, non-political people to her forthright manner. That's exactly why Senator McCain picked her, which is ironic considering how liberals claim that Biden is a straight shooter. If lying, double speak, and not thinking before you open your mouth is straight shooting, then black is white and up is down.

Unfortunately, for Biden, Americans don't speak Washingtonese. They do, however, respond to a plain-spoken, real person, a person who has had a real job and knows real people, not a person whose entire adult life has been spent inside the Beltway.

Too bad they only scheduled one of these debates. Tom Brokaw actually summed up the debate by suggesting that democrats should be glad there was only one debate.

Arkansas Economist Predicts Prolonged Downturn...Governor Proposes Continued High State Spending

Arkansas Policy Foundation economist Greg Kaza is predicting continued economic hardship, which will continue to put a pinch on the pocketbooks of Arkansans.

Meanwhile, Governor Beebe is now planning on forgoing spending cuts that he had proposed earlier.

So, as the people of Arkansas struggle to make ends meet, the governor is planning on spending more of our money. His decision is based on an unexpected rise in tax revenues. The governor makes himself out to be an average guy, but while taxpayers struggle he's more than happy to keep our money and give it to state bureaucracies.

If the governor really wanted to do something for the state, he could cut our taxes so that we enjoy some unexpected revenue increases. I won't hold my breath.

FACT: Obama Is Out of Touch

The following was emailed to me earlier. Enjoy.

---

The presidential primary season is finally over, and it is now time for gun owners to take a careful look at just where nominee Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the right to keep and bear arms.

But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.

FACT: Barack Obama was a member of the Board of Directors of the Joyce Foundation, the leading source of funds for anti-gun organizations and “research.”8

Clinton School: U.S. Public Service Academy?

The following is an announcement for an upcoming symposium at the Clinton School. Where should I begin with this? First of all, "public service" is not as noble as working in the private sector. Most "public servants" actually view the public as their servants. Witness the endless litany of taxes and fees we pay. The reason for each and every one is that the private sector exists, in the eyes of "public servants", to fund the public sector.

Another disturbing insinuation is that the average civilian, government job is as important as the job our military does. It reminds me of the joke of the Peace Corps. Colleges are already Leftist enough without having a taxpayer funded college of socialism.

This is exactly the sort of thing that the Soviet Union did. Do we really want to divert the creative energies of young people out of the private sector, to teach them how to become bureaucrats? The government is the biggest CONSUMER and destroyer of capital in the world. We need more kids going into PRIVATE business, not the other way around. This is the sort of truly disturbing thing I can see Barry Obama pushing if he was president.

---

Creating a U.S. Public Service Academy

Chris Myers Asch will discuss his proposal to create a U.S. Public Service Academy, an undergraduate institution devoted to developing civilian leaders for the public sector. Modeled on the military academies, the academy would offer four years of tuition-free education in exchange for five years of civilian service following graduation. Asch and friend Shawn Raymond began promoting the idea in 2006, taking it to the halls of Congress and winning a 2007 Echoing Green Fellowship to support the initiative. Both alumni of Teach for America in rural Mississippi, Asch and Raymond co-founded the Sunflower County Freedom Project, an intensive academic enrichment and leadership development program for middle and high school students.

“Gwen first let me congratulate you on your new pro-Obama book “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”.

And Gwen, while I certainly understand that you have a serious financial interest in an Obama win to help you with your book sales, I must regretfully inform you that I intend to do everything I can to insure America is secure in the hands of a McCain administration.

"New Pittsburgh"? Just How Many Coal Plants Does Arkansas Have?

Last week GLOBAL WARMING!!! Commissioner Kevin Smith, "former state senator from Stuttgart, said that without a moratorium Arkansas could become 'the new Pittsburgh - not the Natural State.'"

That got me thinking: How many coal power plants are there in Arkansas? So I contacted Peter Main with SWEPCO to inquire. His response is that are currently three operating coal power plants in Arkansas, with another under construction in Osceola. SWEPCO is currently bearing the brunt of environmentalists who apparently want Arkansas to become like California, which severely limited building new power plants even though its population was exploding.

Soooo, we have three right now, one under construction, and another which will hopefully opened 2012 if environmentalist kooks aren't successful. I couldn't help but notice a clear blue sky when I looked out the window while discussing this with Mr. Main. I'm trying to recall soot covered buildings and skies that are blotted out coal smoke...

Someone feel free to send me pictures of the areas of the state that are blighted and blotted by coal plants...
