Berry Amends Financial Statement...Raises Other Questions

Congressman Marion Berry, D-1st District, announced this week that he was amending his finacial disclosure after it came to light that he was listing its value at less than half a million dollars, when it's actual value is closer to a million. Through a loophole, he is legally able to list it's value as the amount he paid for it ten years ago, which was $369,000.

The report from the AP also mentions that he receives between $15,000-50,000 per year in rental income from it. The article would lead you to believe that the property is his personal home in D.C., so I'm a little confused how he's able to earn rent from it's use, especially such a large amount. Hopefully, we can get this figured out.

Brummett's paraphrase of what Obama Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, said is evolving. Compare what he said before:

"...a woman of poor Hispanic descent can bring richer experience to a better legal ruling than a typical white male can bring." -Brummett

to what he is saying now...

"Gingrich chimed in last week that Sonia Sotomayor ought to withdraw her nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court because she once told an Hispanic audience that a wise old Latina woman ought to have richer experience to bring to a better legal decision than an old white man would bring."

to what she actually said...

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male...” -Sotomayor

He's inched a bit toward what she actually said, but still can't quite bring himself to say what she actually said. He's still trying to sanitize it. She actually said that a Latina woman will make better decisions than a white male. Again, what your response be, John, if a white male said the opposite? It would be called, accurately, racism. But what does Brummett say?

"Has Sotomayor lynched any old white men? Has she denied any old white men the right to vote? Has she told the grandchildren of old white men that they must go to school only among their own kind with substandard facilities and equipment and books?"

Has Newt Gingrich? Has Rush Limbaugh? Nope. So, by the John Brummett definition of racism, one must lynch, deny the right to vote, or send kids to schools run by liberal democrats (that's who runs inner city schools).

Brummett goes on to list apparent acts of racism, which do not include any of the standards in the previous paragraph, where white REPUBLICAN!!! males said things that were obviously racist. Soooo, apparently, he's amending his definition to include mere comments by republicans, whereas comments by liberal Latina females cannot possibly be racist. I wonder if Brummett thinks anything said by a liberal can be racist...

So, under no circumstances can comments made by a non-white (or white, Joe Biden for instance) be racist, even when the same comments made by a white Conservative would be absolutely racist.

Brummett is a hypocrite and his attempts to twist logic are tortured and pitiful.
